Being the front-man of one of the world's biggest heavy metal bands, he's certainly used to globetrotting. 

But Metallica star James Hetfield swapped the stage for a lavish yacht as he enjoyed a family break to Mykonos, Greece, recently. 

The rocker, 54, looked in his element as he relaxed on board the luxurious vessel with his wife Francesca and their two daughters Cali, 20, and Marcella, 16, and son Castor, 18.

Proving his more about the peaceful life these days, the music icon relished quality time with his loved ones in the Mediterranean sunshine.

Staying true to his rocker roots, James kept his swimwear style typically grunge in a pair of camouflage print swim shorts and a chunky cross pendant necklace. 

His wife opted for a more vibrant holiday look in a pink and blue swimming costume as she enjoyed a cooling dip in the sea before retreating to the sunning deck to top up her tan.

The couple - who have been married since 1997 - looked as loved up as ever during their family vacation, with Francesca wrapping her arms around the Nothing Else Matters hitmaker as they posed for a snap together.

When the family weren't sunning themselves on board their luxury boat, they took to the waves on their jet skis.

While the couple have chosen to live their life relatively out of the spotlight, James has previously admitted that he credits his spouse Francesca for helping him to mature. 

The rhythm guitarist - who has maintained total abstinence from alcohol since going sober in 2002 - also previously stated that Fran, 48, helped him to deal with his anger issues more constructively.
